How To Have The Best Day Out In Brighton England.
Planning a trip to the colourful seaside town in England? This city on the south coast has loads of fun things to experience and is a popular seaside destination for good reason. There’s something for everyone, from fish and chips on the beach to the quirky shops in The Lanes. Having visited many times over the years, here’s my plan for the best day out in Brighton.
In The Morning
Brighton is an hour train ride from London, so we will start our day arriving in to Brighton Station. Heading out of the train station you will be on a main street, Queens Road. This road leads straight to the sea front so you should head this way.
Before getting to the beach you will want to take a left off of this road and explore The North Laine. The North Laine and The Lanes are popular shopping areas in Brighton with loads of unique treasures to offer. The streets here are filled with all sorts of different shops and restaurants and I’d recommend just taking a wander and seeing what you find.
After exploring the North Laine we will head to the Royal Pavilion. The Pavilion is located between North Laine and The Lanes, which is another area of tightly packed streets and shops, so you might just stumble upon it whilst walking around. Brighton Pavilion is a Grade 1 listed former royal residence. The building began construction in 1787 for King George the 4th. The gardens here are free to explore or you can check out tickets for an inside tour HERE. Within the pavilion, you will find multiple rooms with stunning décor and some amazing chandeliers.
If museums are your thing, you can find the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery next to the Pavilion. If you’re planning your trip for the winter months the pavilion adds an ice rink which is a fun activity to add to your day.
Once you have finished here it will probably be time for lunch! Continue heading towards the beach through The Lanes and grab a spot to eat. I personally love Pinocchio’s (Which is next to the museum) and Donatello’s but there are lots of great choices.
In The Afternoon
After lunch, it is time to check out the seafront. I’d start by heading onto the pier which is one of the most popular attractions in Brighton. You can stroll all the way around the outside of the pier and enjoy the sea views. The pier is also home to arcades and some amusement rides at the end.
Next, I think it’s time to head onto the beach. If it’s a nice day you can hopefully catch some rays and have a relaxing afternoon. If you’d prefer a more jam-packed day start taking a walk West along the promenade. The remnants of the old West pier will be out in the water here. Heading this way you can check out the upside-down house for some fun Instagram pictures or head up the I360 tower for views of the city.
I think it’s about time for some iconic fish and chips for dinner on the seafront now. You could even get some mushy peas if that’s your thing! Still got room for more? Follow up with a Mr whippy ice cream or some sugar donuts.
Evening
During the evening, I’d recommend checking out if there is a show on at the Theatre Royal Brighton. Have a look HERE. The theatre is over 200 years old and hosts a range of musicals, plays and ballets. Or there are plenty of great bars and pubs to check out in Brighton, such as Be At One Brighton and Komedia Brighton.
Another fun activity I’d recommend checking out is Globalls. This is located in the Marina and is a UV mini golf course and cocktail bar.
So that wraps up the best day out in Brighton! If this isn’t quite to your taste you can check out my full list of recommended activities HERE and plan your own day.
