Planning to visit Cappadocia in October? Or considering when the best time to go is? Here’s my experience of visiting the beautiful area for 4 days in October last year.
Weather
Autumn in Cappadocia is a great time to visit. During October the temperatures usually sit in the low 20c range during the day. This gives for the perfect exploring weather with it not being too hot or too cold. During the nights it can get a bit chilly but nothing a jacket can’t fix. As the winter months begin a small amount of rain can be expected, however, this is more common in December/January. I didn’t experience any rain when visiting.
Trip Length
Many people pass through Cappadocia very quickly only spending 2 days. I spent 4 days here and definitely think there was plenty to do. If you are wanting to take a balloon ride you should also consider staying a bit longer as the flights can get cancelled due to the weather so you wouldn’t want to miss out. I think 3-5 days is a great amount of time to spend here.
What To Do?
Packing List
I packed for my 4 day trip in a carry on suitcase and small backpack which was included on my Turkish airline’s flights. Here’s what I packed…
Mini Backpack
– DSLR Camera
– Liquids bag
– Powerbank and charging cables
– Tissues
– Phone
– Headphones
– Passport and travel documents
I Wore
– Vest t-shirt
– Zip Hoddie
– Coat (gloves in pocket)
– Jogger trousers
– Trainers
Carry on Case
– 2 x Pyjamas (Shorts and vest)
– 1 x Oversized T-shirt
– 1 x Cardigan
– 2 x Trousers (Jeans and flare leggings)
– 2 x shorts
– 4 x Tops (Cropped and vest style)
– 1 x Sandals
– 1 x Swimsuit ( I didn’t use this but if your hotel has a pool you might still want this)
– Toiletries ( eg Hairbrush, Flannel)
– Underwear and socks
– Sunglasses
For the weather at this time of year, I wore a top and shorts during the day and as you can see from the photos I generally carried a jacket with me as I hate getting cold! For the evenings I wore the jacket and would need to change into trousers. I only used my coat for the balloon ride but I definitely needed it then as the cold mornings and high altitude made it quite cold!
