Brighton, situated on the south coast of England, is the perfect day out or weekend trip. The quirky and colourful city has plenty of great views, fun activities and yummy food. So here’s my list of the 11 best things to do in Brighton.
1. Enjoy the Beach and Promenade
Brighton’s coastline is a stretch of pebble beaches that becomes a popular tourist destination in the summer. Enjoy an authentic seaside experience by spending the day in the sea and sunbathing on the pebbles. Take a walk along the Promenade with plenty of gift shops and fish and chips takeaways.
2. Pier, Amusements & Arcades
The Pier is one of my favourite spots in Brighton, bringing around 3 million guests a year. Arcade games, rides and shops line the pier or you can simply take a stroll along enjoying the view. My personal favourite is the 2p machines in the arcade and eating some rock candy.
3. Bonus West Pier
The west pier is also an interesting site to check out in Brighton. The pier was closed in 1975 and fell into disrepair. A fire in 2003 destroyed most of the remaining pier leaving just some of the metal structure.
4. The Lanes and North Laine
Running off of the central street in Brighton, Grand Parade, you’ll find narrow streets and Lanes filled with fun and unique independent shops. It’s always fun to head into The Lanes and just see what you find. From thrift shops, antique stores, jewelry sellers and fantastic food and drink stalls there’s definitely something for everyone here.
5. Check out the Marina
The Marina is another beautiful place to check out in Brighton if you are looking for more things to do. Home to many yachts and sailboats but also some fun inside activities for a rainy day. There are plenty more shops and places to eat here but also a bowling alley and 8-screen cinema. I’d also recommend GloBalls. Fun UV miniature golf courses and cocktails.
6. Brighton Pavilion and Gardens
The Pavilion and Gardens are another beautiful place to see in Brighton. You can pay for tours of the inside or stick to just the gardens and views from outside. If you are visiting around Christmas I’d highly recommend the ice skating they hold Here. Click Here for their website.
7. An Aerial View from the i360
A slightly newer addition to Brighton is the i360 tower which opened in 2016. This 162 meter tall tower has a moving observatory pod for views across the city and sea. There are lots of different tickets available and sometimes events on too. Check out what they offer Here.
8. Upside Down House
You can’t miss the blue upside down house also located on the seafront, near the west pier. If you are heading this way I think the house is really cool to see from the outside or head inside for a fun illusion experience. Entry is approximately £5 for 20mins of photo opportunities
9. Churchill Square Shopping Center
Wanting a break from the site seeing? Indulge in some retail therapy in Brighton’s main shopping center. With over 70 shops and places to eat the center could be a much need break from the sun (or Rain!)
10. SeaLife Brighton
Brighton SeaLife is the oldest aquarium in the world. Built in 1872 its home to over 100 different species. If you enjoy seeing different animals this is a must visit. It’s located just next to the pier. See more Here.
11. Watch a Show
The final thing I think you should do in Brighton is checking out a show. With a few different theatres in Brighton, the main being Theatre Royal Brighton there’s always something on. Check out what’s showing Here.
